Dear Friends and Art lovers,

I'm exited to open the fall and winter season with a show entitled, AGORA, which means, "Gathering place" in ancient Greek, and was build in the shape of a circle where artists, philophers and the people gathered to discuss the common good.   Each piece of this beautiful collection of work contains a circular shape that is the focus of the piece.  To me this reflects order and peace, working together and creating balance from chaos.  The Agora still lives in our modern lives in many of our public gather places.  I'm looking forward to your company as we form an Agora at my upcoming show on the 23rd and 24th of September.

WHO MELTED “DUCKY”, THE SNOWMAN! A collection of fun Christmas paintings created by Edward Hoyer for the holiday season It is the Christmas of 2012. Is Ducky simply missing or has he been melted? “Snow Girl did it!” said Miss Lady Night in a statement released to the snow police by this outstanding member of the winter community. Two identical scarves were found at the scene of the crime; one tied to a lamp post in the middle of the sunniest area of the park, and the other scarf lay on the ground nearby in the middle of a big cube of ice, along with a pair of glasses, 4 pebbles, two carrots, four branches and two hats and a single poinsettia flower. “Snow Ball’, Ducky’s faithful dog, was also found, tied under a nearby tree. “ If he could only talk”, said officer Ice Flake, “we would have this wrongdoing solved at once”. “I can guarantee that Snow Girl tied Ducky to the lamp post with her green scarf, exclaimed the Ice Queen . Why was she the only snow girl that did not wear her “bling bling” that evening and chose instead to wear a simple green scarf similar to the one Ducky was wearing”? “Simplicity Iceberg”, (center top) added a final statement. “We were each paired with two handsome snowmen, but Snow Girl was stuck with only Ducky for the night. I saw her batting her big eyelashes at the Snow Princes and the hunky Huntsman too. She must have been green with envy and should have used more bling-bling if she wanted to have a double date and fun! In the case of the mysterious disappearance of Ducky, Snow Girl stands as the primary suspect in the line up of mug shots taken by the snow police. A secret agent, alias, “The Huntsman 007”, has been sent by Mrs. Melted Mush otherwise known as “M” to assist the snow police in the matter. Pictures of Ducky, before and after, will be released later along with a summons for all to attend the trial of the guilty party on November 9th and 10th. Candid images of all the suspects depicted in the various activities that took place during the night in question will be on display. A word of caution: Children should be the main witnesses of these photographs; adults may experience light headedness and should only view them if accompanied by a child. Many new mug shots are being produced daily by the artist Ed the Elf to assist in solving the case. Hand Made candles and the image of Snow Baby “J” have also been produced, should you wish to light a candle for the safe return of our beloved Ducky. Copies of the mug shot line up have conveniently been formatted to the size of Christmas postcards for you to send to your loved ones during the holiday season. The more publicized this case becomes the faster we can find Snow Girl. Snow Ball is now suffering from lack of frostiness and it is feared he will not survive the season unless the case is solved. We appreciate all your suggestions on this urgent matter and look forward to your attendance. The story of “WHO MELTED DUCKY THE SNOWMAN” will continue during Christmas of 2013 when a funny unexpected twist takes place in the saga. It turns out Snow Girl was not guilty of melting Ducky after all. But sadly, as a result of a secret love and too many long, warm hugs, she and Ducky melted together into one big puddle. Chapter Two of the story about “Who melted Ducky, The Snowman” Snow Girl’s secret comes to light. The gossip about poor Snow Girl was getting out of hand; being accused of melting Ducky and batting her eyelashes at the Snow Prince and the Huntsman! Officer Ice Flake, who is a dear friend of Snow Girl, decided to take the case and solve the conflicting stories that do not reflect the true character of this young snow beauty. He returned to the scene of the crime and discovered, through DNA testing, that the two carrots were in fact the noses of Ducky and Snow Girl! What really did take place here?

Under the hat, Officer Flake found a cell phone with recorded images of the night in question. The photos revealed that Snow Girl had accompanied Ducky to a secret meeting with the Snow Prince, the true love of her life. Snow Girl was so happy that she gave Ducky a loving hug and indeed, Ducky melted, just a little bit. His hat, scarf, glasses, etc., fell to the ground. But he didn’t mind. He was happy to be able to reunite the Snow Prince with Snow Girl. But something was lurking in the shadows. A sad looking peeping tom named “M” was hiding behind the bushes. Why? Because “M”, who passes by day as Mrs. Melted Mush, is in reality the cruel Snow Queen! And it was she who sent the Huntsman to kill Snow Girl. But the Huntsman felt compassion for the young princess after he got to know her and therefore could not bring himself to harm her. (The Huntsman is played by the Australian actor, Chris Hemfrost, who uses hair extensions for his movies. In this story he has Rasta dreadlocks. Real big ones!) So instead, “M” looked into her magic mirror and learned that by giving Snow Girl a poison Poinsettia she would melt into the sleeping death. She layed the flower near the tree where Snow Girl found it and picked it up just before she gave Ducky a big warm hug. Then, indeed, both Snow Girl and Ducky melted into a big puddle of water. Ducky’s snowmen friends could not bring themselves to let the young beauty and Ducky evaporate in the morning sun, so they decided instead to freeze the puddle into an ice cube adorned with poinsettia flowers and golden snow balls. The Huntsman learned of the Snow Queen’s evil deed and told the Prince that Snow Girl was not really dead but only under a sleeping spell and that only a warm, loving kiss, and a true poinsettia flower given to Snow Girl would wake her from her sleep. The Prince rushed to the beauty’s resting place and gave the ice cube a warm, loving kiss and the flower. Miraculously, the ice cube melted and reformed into the beautiful Snow Girl who was overjoyed at seeing her prince by her side. Ducky was also reformed at the same time! Officer Ice Flake went to see “M” to find out why she did this to the princess. “M” spilled the beans and in tears, told the officer that she had become jealous of beauty and young love. She was now too old, and had to wear a veil over her face in public. The officer said to her, “There is nothing wrong about getting old, it is part of life.” So M” lifted her veil and asked for forgiveness. At that exact moment, her true beauty came to light. Not as a young queen, but as a wise and kind queen. She was beautiful indeed! Office Flake fell, head-over-heels, in love with her! She gave the Snow Queen crown to Snow Girl, for now she was truly happy that she found a loving companion. Huggable Ducky and Snow Ball were reunited and are very happy now. Snow Girl went to live with her Snow Prince in her Snow Castle in Canada. They also got second home in Jamaica that is kept just 9 degrees below 0 Celsius and lived happily ever after. Chris Hemfrost cut off his dread locks and now is looking better than ever and getting ready for another movie production in Australia. His hair extensions were sold and fetched a price of 100.000.00 Euros. The money helped pay off the debt of all the gold snowballs the village snowmen used for Snow Girl’s ice cube and he had enough left over to buy the snowmen a gold mine and little cottage. Have a wonderful holiday season fill with Joy and a Happy New Year in 2014. With the coolest of warm regards, Edward Hoyer and the Snowmen: Blick, Flick, Glick, Plick, Whick, Queek and Snick (alias Ducky) All copy rights to the author Edward Robin Hoyer
